Haigler Parks & Recreation

City Park

The Haigler Women's Club formed a committee in 1950 to develop a City Park for Haigler.  They raised funds and purchased the block just east of the Methodist Church.  Trees, Flowers and grass was planted and tables & benches were constructed and painted by the club members.  Slides, teeter-totters and swings were donated.  In the summer of 1950, the Park Committee installed a concrete slab that could be flooded for ice skating in the winter, basketball, roller skating and dancing in the summer.

Educational, religious and entertainment programs began meeting in the new park. At some point restrooms were added and in 1974 a gazebo shelter house was erected and financed by the Village Board. The park is now maintained by the Village Manager.

The park is used for family gatherings, picnics, band concerts and has become a nice place for tourists and visitors to enjoy.

Downtown Park

The park on main street has a nice gazebo and picnic tables.  There is a statue of Jimmy Grey, one of Haiglers first residents. The bulletin board displays ads and notices by local residents.
